ABOUT ABOUT

Join local change-makers and a Global community for the first ever Philadelphia Global Service Jam!

What is a service jam?

A Global Service Jam is like a service-oriented, design-thinking, non-technical, hackathon for good. Groups of changemakers will convene together at locations all over the world on the same weekend to innovate ideas for good.

How does it work?

On Friday night, a one-word clue will be released to all jammers. After the clue is released, individuals will form teams to think about ideas inspired by that word. On Saturday, teams will wittle down their ideas before choosing one to continue working on throughout the weekend. The Service Jam ends with group presentations on Sunday evening. Don't show up with any ideas--build them together with your team.

What do we make at a Service Jam?

The Jam is not about ideas or presentations--it's about prototypes. Some groups create written, action-ready public policy. A prototype can be anything from a model to a written policy, from a theatrical staging to a wirefram. It's all about how people use and interact with that prototype.

Why should I participate in a Service Jam?

A Service Jam is a great opportunity for anyone who wants to learn more about a different element of servie or design. It's for anyone who wants to stretch themselves. It's for anyone who wants to make a change.
